  • Salt and black pepper
  • 1/4 cup Bourbon
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  2. 2. Season the chicken thighs with salt and black pepper.
  3. 3. In a small saucepan, combine the Bourbon, ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper.
  4. 4. Place the saucepan over medium heat and simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. 5. Place the chicken thighs on the grill and cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until slightly charred and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. 6. During the last few minutes of grilling, start basting the chicken with the Bourbon BBQ sauce, turning and basting every couple of minutes until the chicken is glazed and cooked through.
  7. 7. Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Cooking Notes

  • You can also bake the chicken in the oven at 400°F for 25-30 minutes, basting with the Bourbon BBQ sauce every 10 minutes.
